The Monark product lines
Monark categorizes its cargo bikes into four distinct lines:
E-Cargo: This includes the popular Monark Centro 1, 2, and 3, along with trailers that can be attached to a bike. The Charles Cargo, a cargo bike with an open front box, also falls under this category.
Light Cargo: Designed for small goods or even everyday household use. This line includes the E-Truck, the Truck, and the Workbike, which features a rear carrier and a small front rack.
Indoor Cargo: Particularly useful for warehouses. These bikes resemble scooters but come with a large front rack to carry goods.
Special: Trike cargo bikes with a small basket at the front or back for transporting light goods. With a low step-through design, these bikes are ideal for individuals with reduced mobility.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of a cargo bike for my business?
The advantages include sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and maneuverability in urban areas. Cargo bikes do not emit CO2, are often cheaper to maintain than cars, and can easily navigate narrow streets. And of course, you can park the cargo bike much easier and cheaper than a car in the city.
How much does a cargo bike cost?
The price varies depending on the brand, model, and whether it is an electric version. Prices can range from a few hundred to a few thousand euros. In addition, there are also subsidies that may apply and there are flexible financing options that allow you not to pay for the entire bike at once.
What is the cargo capacity of a cargo bike?
This depends on the model, but most cargo bikes can carry between 100 and 250 kg. There are also large cargo bikes that can carry up to 300 kg and have a load capacity of up to 2000 liters (2M3)
Is an electric cargo bike better than a traditional one?
Electric cargo bikes offer extra support, which is useful for heavier loads or longer distances. However, they are more expensive to purchase and maintain.
How do I maintain my cargo bike?
Regular maintenance of the wear parts (brakes and tires) is certainly important. For electric models, it is also important to maintain the battery well. The more intensively the bike is used, the more maintenance the bike needs. We have several options to properly set up the maintenance of your bike. Feel free to ask about the possibilities.
Are there specific traffic rules for cargo bikes in the city?
Cargo bikes follow the same traffic rules as regular bicycles, but it is important to take the extra size and weight into account when navigating traffic.
Can the cargo box be customized?
Yes, there are almost endless possibilities for the box, such as different box sizes, covers, and branding possibilities. From standard to custom.
How safe is a cargo bike in traffic?
Cargo bikes are generally safe, but it takes some practice to get used to the size and weight. It is important to ride defensively and be visible to other road users.
What types of cargo bikes are available on the market?
There are several types, including two-wheeled and three-wheeled models, and both electric and non-electric versions.
Can I get a subsidy when purchasing a cargo bike for my business?
In some municipalities and provinces, subsidies are available for companies that switch to sustainable means of transport such as cargo bikes. It is advisable to check local regulations.
Is cargo bike leasing an option?
Yes, that is possible. Let us know which bike you have in mind and we will send you an offer.
Can I enter zero-emission zones with my cargo bike after 2025?
Absolutely. The cargo bike is even a perfect replacement for a diesel van.
Is maintenance more expensive for a refurbished cargo bike compared to a new one?
The maintenance costs are almost the same. Simply because we replace all parts that are not in top technical shape during refurbishment. Tires and brake pads wear out equally fast with new and refurbished ‘-)
Do refurbished cargo bikes qualify for subsidies or tax benefits?
Yes, that is possible. The purchase price must be at least 4000 euros excluding VAT.
Is it hard to cycle with a full cargo box?
Once you get the hang of it, it’s not so bad. Getting on and off takes some practice, but after a few hours you’ll be all set.
Is it better to buy new or slightly used?
In terms of price, young-used is a lot more interesting. We also offer a guarantee on these bikes (usually half a year). New ones, on the other hand, have a longer guarantee.
What does refurbishment involve?
“If you buy a refurbished cargo bike from us, we promise that we have checked the bike up to three numbers behind the ball bearing 😉. What we don’t do is replace anything unnecessarily, so if, for example, the pedals are still good, but have signs of wear, we leave them on. We don’t think it is sustainable to replace because it may be more beautiful cosmetically. But if a part is technically at the end of its life, we will definitely replace it. Checklist
We check the bikes on more than 50 points. For example, we always test the battery. We state the condition of the battery on the battery, so that you know exactly what you are buying.
Warranty
We offer a standard (unless explicitly stated otherwise) six-month warranty on the frame, hub, battery and motor. Do you want a longer warranty? That is possible, this additional price is stated with the bikes in the webshop.”
Do you offer delivery services?
We deliver throughout the Netherlands for a fee of 75 euros (excl. VAT) per bicycle.
